Breakwater Investment Management, LLC is led by a team of experienced executives with concentrated expertise in private and institutional client portfolio management, strategic planning and corporate governance, corporate development, investment planning, and direct capital placements.
Saif Mansour – Managing Partner
Saif Mansour is the Founder and Managing Partner of Breakwater Investment Management, LLC, and the Chairman of its Investment Committee. He is responsible for origination, structure, execution, and oversight of the firm’s investment portfolio and advisory positions. Saif currently serves on the Board of Directors of The Betty Mills Company, and is an active board observer of iSatori Technologies, Inc. and Consensus Orthopedics, Inc.
Prior to founding Breakwater in 2006, Saif was Vice President at Sunset Holdings, LLC, a Los Angeles-based private family investment firm, where he was responsible for structuring and executing direct capital placements in the form of secured and convertible debt securities and equity financings. Transactions included acquisitions and growth opportunities for both private and public companies. Previously, Saif served as a Strategy Consultant to the Office of the President at Union Bank of California, where he focused on market and financial analysis on mergers and acquisitions. He began his career in the venture capital industry, serving as an analyst for The Avram Miller Company.
Committed to philanthropic service to the local and global community, Saif currently sits on the Leadership Council for The Posse Foundation – Los Angeles, is an active mentor for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Los Angeles, and is a founding member of Conservation International’s Generation Conservation.
Saif graduated with a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from Brown University. During his time at Brown, he competed for the Brown Mens Division I Soccer Team.
Jeffrey Sweeney – CEO and Managing Director, US Capital Partners
Mr. Sweeney serves on the Investment Committee of Breakwater Investment Management, LLC. He is CEO and Managing Director of US Capital Partners, Inc., a full-service investment banking firm focused on asset-based lending to small to middle-market companies. Through its investment banking affiliation with US Capital Partners, Breakwater Investment Management gains priority access to a continuous stream of proprietary investment opportunities.
Mr. Sweeney has a strong entrepreneurial approach, which he has applied in the investment banking and equipment leasing arena for nearly 15 years. In 1998, Mr. Sweeney purchased the assets of US Capital Corporation, a $5-million equipment leasing company. Changing the focus of the company to asset-based lending and investment banking, Mr. Sweeney grew the business to over $500 million in annual originations. From 1979 until its sale in the mid-1990s, Mr. Sweeney served as a principal and CEO of Machine Works Corporation, a lower middle-market aerospace manufacturing company. Mr. Sweeney is active in the southern California and San Francisco chapters of ACG, TMA, CFA, and other financial organizations.
Anthony Medovoy – Vice President
Mr. Medovoy brings nine years of experience in Credit Analysis and Corporate Finance to Breakwater Investment Management. In his role, he is responsible for managing the credit review and due diligence process and acts as support to Breakwater Investment Management's Investment Committee in its decision-making process. Prior to joining the Breakwater team, Mr. Medovoy spent five years in the Principal Investing and US Corporate Banking groups at Wells Fargo. In his most recent position, Mr. Medovoy worked at Guggenheim Partners Asset Management, where he managed the firm's credit portfolio and conducted credit analysis of municipal issuers.
Mr. Medovoy is a graduate of the University of Southern California with a BS in Business Administration. He passed all four parts of the CPA exam and is a Level II CFA Candidate.
Erik Muenchow – Senior Associate
Mr. Muenchow brings four years of private equity and related hedge fund experience to Breakwater Investment Management. Mr. Muenchow began his career as an analyst at Resource Managed Assets, a multi-billion dollar hedge fund headquartered in Boston, MA. In his role, Mr. Muenchow conducted due diligence and market analysis on funding requests in aggregate of $600M in transaction value.
Mr. Muenchow holds an MBA in Finance from Loyola Marymount University and a BSM in Entrepreneurship from Tulane University. Mr. Muenchow also serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors for the San Fernando Valley Counseling Center and is an active member of ACG Los Angeles.
